Dear Speaker Thrasher,
I now know why shady special interests are rolling out hundreds of thousands of dollars to keep you out of office, and it makes me sick.
Ultra-liberal personal injury trial lawyers clog our legal system with frivolous lawsuits and raise the cost of health care in this country. Doctors across Florida and the country spend over $100 billion a year fighting frivolous lawsuits, and are passing the costs onto us, if they can even afford to practice anymore.
When you were Speaker of the Florida House, you and Governor Jeb Bush passed some of the toughest medical liability reform laws in the country. Thanks to your efforts, Florida health care costs are more stable than other states without tort reform laws.
Now these liberal trial lawyers are coming after you with everything they’ve got. They’ve already invested hundreds of thousands of dollars to recruit former Representative Stan Jordan and produce dishonest, relentless and shameless attack ads against you. Worse yet, they’re hiding behind shadowy campaign groups and mysterious companies that don’t have to tell who they get their money from or who they answer to!
That’s just wrong, and it’s just more of the same dirty politics as usual that keeps good people out of office. I’m not buying it, and I hope the people of Senate District 8 get the whole story about your efforts to keep health care costs down and stop the spread of frivolous lawsuits from liberal personal injury trial lawyers.
If these shadow groups want to attack you, make them disclose who they are, who their contributors are and who they really work for. If they want to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars trying to buy my state Senate seat, then fight fair and don’t hide behind shadowy groups that don’t answer to us.
Thank you for standing up to the trial lawyers then. I know I can count on you to stand up to them now.
